4-Day National Polio Campaign to Begin in Sheikhupura on April 13

Acting on the special directives of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, all relevant departments must utilize all available resources to fulfill their responsibilities in keeping citizens safe from polio. Furthermore, the relevant institutions should conduct comprehensive awareness campaigns for the public regarding polio eradication. Deputy Commissioner Shahid Imran Marth expressed these views while presiding over a meeting of the District Polio Eradication Committee, held in preparation for the four-day national polio campaign starting on April 13.

The meeting was attended by Additional Deputy Commissioner (Finance) Mian Nazir Ahmed, CEO Health Authority Dr. Siddique Ahmed Baloch, the District Health Officer (DHO), DDHOs, Deputy Director Local Government, District Emergency Officer, Education officials, Secretary RTA, WHO representatives, the EPI Focal Person, Police, and officers from other relevant departments. During the session, the DHO briefed Deputy Commissioner Sheikhupura on the campaign’s progress.

Deputy Commissioner Sheikhupura, Shahid Imran Marth, emphasized that no stone should be left unturned in taking all possible measures to completely protect citizens from polio and other fatal diseases. He directed the officers and staff of the Health, Revenue, Education, and Police departments to perform their duties on a priority basis during the campaign. He stressed that there must be no shortcomings in preventive and protective measures, stating clearly that there is “no room for error.”

Later, Deputy Commissioner Marth detailed that the four-day national polio campaign, commencing on April 13 across all five tehsils of the district, will continue until April 16. Alongside the polio vaccine, Vitamin A drops will also be administered to children aged between 6 months and five years. He urged the polio workers to perform their duties as a national obligation during the campaign.
